Digital Productivity Transformation in Manufacturing – P&G Case Study

Operational Excellence Goal: Increase output, improve customer satisfaction and modernise manufacturing without simply adding more labour or capacity.

The Journey:
P&G’s Rakona plant in the Czech Republic faced pressure to improve performance in a competitive manufacturing environment. Rather than treating productivity as a cost-cutting exercise, the site approached it as a full operational transformation.

The plant upgraded existing equipment with sensors, software and real-time quality control. This allowed teams to see process performance more clearly and respond faster to quality or production issues. The improvement journey combined digital tools with people-led problem solving, rather than relying on technology alone.

The results were impressive. In three years, Rakona increased output by 160% and improved customer satisfaction by 116%. The case is useful because it shows that operational excellence is not only about eliminating waste; it is also about building smarter, more responsive operations. The plant improved productivity, quality visibility and customer outcomes by connecting technology with daily operational decision-making.
